Trump rules out Iran talks for now! “This war will end right after the elections”

US President Donald Trump spoke to reporters before departing for the Republican Party’s Midterm Convention in Dallas, Texas. Addressing Iran, oil prices, his phone call with Vladimir Putin and sanctions related to the West Bank, Trump delivered a series of notable remarks on current foreign policy issues.

“We are not considering negotiations with Iran”

Speaking about the ongoing tensions with Iran, Trump said, “We are not considering negotiations with Iran. A negotiation could take place, but it is not something on our agenda. This war will end immediately after our elections.”

Trump also signaled that operations in the Strait of Hormuz could intensify, saying, “We have disabled nine of their ships, I can say we are responsible for those attacks, and you are going to see more.”

Trump points to the post-election period for lower oil prices

Asked how he would explain oil prices climbing back above $100 after previously predicting a decline, Trump said the key issue was preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

He added, “Right after the election, oil prices are going to collapse. We are going to bring prices below $2 a gallon.”

Trump accuses Iran of trying to influence US elections

Trump also claimed that Iran was trying to affect the US election process.

“They are desperately trying to influence the elections in the United States. Their goal is to get a weak administration into office that will leave them alone and not intervene. That way, they want to obtain a nuclear weapon,” he said.

Trump comments on Putin phone call

Trump also spoke about his phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“We had a great conversation with Putin. He wants to make a deal. If Zelensky also wants to make a deal, that would be very good,” Trump said.

Asked what was preventing an agreement, Trump replied, “The obstacle is two people who hate each other.”

Trump to discuss West Bank sanctions

Trump was also asked about the decision by 12 countries, including the United Kingdom, France and Canada, to impose trade restrictions on goods originating from illegal Jewish settlements in the West Bank.

“I will speak with Israel and these countries and find out what they think. I fully understand what is going on, but I want to find out why this suddenly happened,” Trump said.
