Trump on Kim Jong-Un and Iran: “When someone has 112 nuclear missiles, it’s good to get along with them”
US President Donald Trump addressed a range of issues, from foreign policy to tariffs, during a rally in Ohio. Saying that he gets along very well with North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un, Trump stressed that Iran would never be allowed to possess nuclear weapons.
“I get along very well with Kim Jong-Un”
Trump said about the North Korean leader:
“I get along very well with Kim Jong-Un, okay? Do you know who he is? The leader of North Korea.”
Referring to nuclear weapons, Trump added:
“When someone has 112 nuclear missiles, it’s good to get along with them. But there is a difference. Iran will never have a nuclear weapon.”
Trump recalls his relationship with Xi Jinping
Trump also spoke about his ties with Chinese President Xi Jinping, saying:
“You know, China is great. President Xi just left our country. Somebody said, ‘Why is he being nice to President Xi?’ Isn’t it good to get along with the leaders of great nations, great nuclear nations?”
Trump defends tariffs
Trump argued that the tariffs imposed by his administration had generated major revenues for the United States and encouraged companies to move production to the country.
“We give them about a year and a half to build their factories here, and if they don’t, we impose tariffs of 150%, 200%, 250%, 300%. Now they’re all building their production facilities here,” Trump said.
