Trump praises Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan over Mecca defense pact
US President Donald Trump commented on the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement in a post on his social media account.
“I am very happy to see Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan sign the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement,” Trump said.
Trump: “The Middle East is coming together”
Trump said the agreement showed that countries in the region were coming together and would be able to defend themselves more effectively.
“I congratulate the great leaders of these three countries. This is a big, bold and important first step. Incredible,” he added.
Trump orders reduction in military drills with South Korea
Trump also announced that he had instructed the Pentagon to significantly scale back joint military exercises with South Korea.
He cited his good relationship with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and the high cost of the drills, much of which he said is covered by the United States, as reasons for the decision.
Trump also said South Korea had refused to support the United States in its war with Iran.
