The Paris march remained largely calm for much of the day, but tensions rose near the end as police used tear gas and water cannons.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>110,000 march in Paris<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Interior Ministry estimated turnout at 410,000 nationwide and 110,000 in Paris. Organisers, however, claimed nearly 800,000 people demonstrated across France, including 250,000 in the capital.<\/p>\n<p>Paris police said more than 3,000 people were stopped and checked, while 65 were detained in the city. The nationwide number of detentions reached 135.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3354\" src=\"https:\/\/www.medyaolusum.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/france-800x450-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.medyaolusum.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/france-800x450-1.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.medyaolusum.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/france-800x450-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.medyaolusum.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/france-800x450-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.medyaolusum.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/france-800x450-1-390x220.jpg 390w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Clashes break out in several cities<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Near Porte de Vincennes in Paris, some protesters threw objects at police, prompting security forces to respond with tear gas and water cannons.<\/p>\n<p>Clashes were also reported in Lyon, Rennes, Nantes, Bordeaux, Nice, Marseille, Lille and Toulouse. In Toulouse, one demonstrator suffered a serious hand injury, while authorities said the circumstances were still under investigation.<\/p>\n<p>In Nantes, police used water cannons, tear gas and stun grenades after protesters attempted to enter an area where demonstrations had been banned.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Investigation opened after photographer injured<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Meanwhile, France\u2019s police watchdog opened an investigation into the injury of a photographer during the October 17 protests.<\/p>\n<p>The photographer was seriously wounded in the leg by fragments from a stun grenade.
